The Valley Nerd Watch!

This week includes Tabletop Day! It’s a fun event that you should celebrate in one of the several manners listed below. It’s essentially an excuse for people to show off tabletop games in the hope that you’ll decide to drop another couple hundred on some arcane box of tokens and rules because you had such a great time playing it with people. And you know, that’s fine! Tabletop games are fun.

The Nerd Watch will be hanging out at the Deuce trying to get through a complete game of the Game of Game of Thrones for most of the day, so any Watchers in feel free come say hi!

Saturday, April 11th
Comics n’ More [31 Union Street, Easthampton MA 01027] at 12:00pm – 11:00pm
Tabletop Day
Comics n’ More is having two one-shot Pathfinder games , a ~wacky~ magic draft, and a ton of board games on tabletop day! It will be a real fun time. If you are in Easthampton this Saturday there is no other place to be!
Modern Myths [34 Bridge Street #4, Northampton, MA 01060] at 12:00pm – 11:00pm
Tabletop Day
Come to Modern Myths for a special Tabletop Day event! Explore all of your old favorite games and try out wonderful new games! It is guaranteed to be a blast. Try to eat a lot before going so that you don’t pass out after 11 hours of play.

Tabletop Day
The good old Deuce is also having a Tabletop Day event! Come enjoy a bunch of fun donated games with a lot of very entertaining people. Also, you can get food and alcohol while you play! It’s kind of great.
Sunday, April 12th
Greenfield Games [228 Main St Greenfield, MA 01301] at 1:00pm – 4:00pm
D&D Attack Wing: Tyranny of Dragons Storyline Event Month Two
Dragons! Danged dragons getting all ready to bother people as per usual. Gather for battle and smash two big armies of miniatures against each other! Sounds fun. The event is $20, and the cost covers a booster pack and lots of prizes!


Wednesday, April 8th
Modern Myths [34 Bridge Street #4, Northampton, MA 01060] at 3:30pm – 6:30pm
Hazel Newlevant Signing
Come see the brilliant editor of recent Kickstarter success story CHAINMAIL BIKINI, an anthology of stories about the experience of women in a variety of gaming environments. It looks pretty dang amazing!


Tuesday, April 7th
Divas Nightclub [492 Pleasant St #3, Northampton, MA 01060] at 10:00pm
Nerd Night
In what we can only describe as a thing we are not entirely capable of fully understanding, Divas is having a nerd night. There’s a VIP video game area, and you should “come dressed”. There are also $3 Poke-ball Jello shots. It’s $14 for 18+ and $10 for 21+!
Saturday, April 11th
The World War 2 Club [50 Conz St, Northampton, MA 01060] at 7:00pm
Bon Appétit Burlesque Nerd Show
Doors open and the ticket sales start at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm! It’s 21+ and admission is $10. This is a woman-friendly neo-burlesque as befits Northampton. It’s pretty much definitely going to be wonderful!


Monday, April 6th

Nerd Nite
This week has two extremely cool sounding talks! First is one about lasers! Find out what makes lasers an integral part of modern society, not just a sci-fi prop, in a talk by Joseph Roy. He works in the laser industry! Also, Language and cognition! A lecture about whether language changes how we think will be presented by Brian Dillon, an Assistant Professor in Linguistics at UMass. Admission is $5!
