September 25th – October 1st

The Valley Nerd Watch!

This week want to remind you of two very important very fun science events!

First! Tomorrow you should head to SciTech Cafe! It’s going to be an amazing time for everyone who attends! Learning, laughing, loving, it’s a getaway the entire family can enjoy. You’ll learn wild and weird facts about viruses and what they do and why they’re dangerous to humans sometimes.

The speaker will be Vinothan Manoharan, a Wagner Family Professor of Chemical Engineering and Professor of Physics at Harvard so you know he knows his stuff. He uses a bunch of experimental techniques to explore the physics of self-organizing like how things crystallize sometimes we think? Mostly the experiment with colloids, suspensions of particles that are only a micrometer in size. A suspension is when you’ve got a bunch of solids hanging out in a liquid, we think. Check out the event at Union Station [125 Pleasant St., Northampton, MA 01060] at 6pm! They also have little snacks.

The OTHER big thing you need to do is remember to make a note of the fact that the next Nerd Nite NoHo is going to be Monday, October 23rd at 7pm – 9pm at The Academy of Music in Northampton! The big place! The pretty place! It’s wild, and we’re incredibly excited about it! Please don’t just buy tickets, enjoin your friends and relations to buy tickets! Then come, too, that’ll be more fun than just buying the tickets. We’ve got two great physics talents explaining some mysteries of the universe to you! Brokk Toggerson of UMass Amherst and Gary Felder of Smith College will expand your mind in a beautiful theater and you’re going to love it a lot!

Go check out the Valley Creators page! As always, be sure to check out our Patreon and the Weekly Events page! There are a lot of fun things happening this and every week! And don’t forget to check out the updated Book Clubs List!
