The Valley Nerd Watch!

Happy Nearly the End of 2017! This has been a rough year for a lot of people we care about. We think the best thing for us to do and by extension for you to do is to try to do a bit of helping folks out in the waning days of the season.

Patronize local Patreons! They backed off of that terrible thing they were planning to do because enough people yelled at them. Check out the Valley Creators list and patronize some excellent local folks!

Donate to some local charitable efforts! Instead of or in addition to your standard gift-giving! Consider it a gift… to the world.

  • The Northampton Survival Center! They provide food to those in need in our community, and donating a few dollars to them can help feed a lot of people!
  • Clean Water Action! They try to make certain our rivers keep getting cleaner, instead of backsliding into the literal poop-filled sewers they were in the 70’s!
  • Prison Policy Initiative! They help to expose and combat the harmful effects of mass incarceration!
  • The Center for New Americans! They help to provide education and resources to make sure that new immigrants have an easier time of it!

And just like… try to maintain calm while we all remain trapped in a world we never made.

Oh! And let us know if we can help out with promoting anything you’re up to. Even years into this we still miss some stuff every week, there are just too many wonderful people around here!

Go check out the Valley Creators page! As always, be sure to check out our Patreon and the Weekly Events page! There are a lot of fun things happening this and every week! And don’t forget to check out the updated Book Clubs List!

In addition to art projects, stories, and films, guests will get a snack of milk and cookies! Kids must be accompanied by an adult!

Movies:

Wednesday, December 20th
Forbes Library [20 West St, Northampton, MA 01060] at 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Jimmy Stewart! Grace Kelly! A window! All this and more in the classic movie about the benefits of being nosy! Free screening, open to all!
Friday, December 22nd
Forbes Library [20 West St, Northampton, MA 01060] at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Film Screening: Despicable Me 3
We’re pretty sure it’s not like… good. But hey, might be fun? And it’s free. And 100% kids will like it because it’s got those little screaming homonculi.

RPGs:

Wednesday, December 20th
Modern Myths [34 Bridge Street #4, Northampton, MA 01060] at 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Youngbloods Adventure Guild
A D&D club for players 8-12! You can become a member of this club by paying $50/mo. That gets you help with creating a character, a mini, a custom D&D session, and a set of dice! It’s the perfect way to play a fun game with friends! We recommend you play a bard. Actually everyone should play as a bard and you should be adventurers by day and a traveling band by night!
Thursday, December 21st
Palmer Public Library [1455 N Main St, Palmer, MA 01069] at 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
RPG Club
Step inside another life! RPGs are fun time games for folks who like to play pretend around a table!
Modern Myths [34 Bridge Street #4, Northampton, MA 01060] at 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Youngbloods Adventure Guild
A D&D club for players 8-12! Play a god trapped in mortal form so whenever you need to retire the character you can explain to everyone that actually you were the toughest and best all along, notwithstanding that time you rolled three critical fails and tripped over your armor into a lava pit.
Modern Myths [34 Bridge Street #4, Northampton, MA 01060] at 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Dungeons and Dragons
Play one of the classic RPGs at Modern Myths! New players are always welcome, and there’s a friendly crowd there every week! We recommend playing fast and loose, since it’s a drop-in drop-out game, so worst case you can come back in a few months with your bard’s ‘long-lost twin sister who’s also a dragonborn and much cooler’.
