Hmmmm anybody else notice time seems to be simultaneously speeding up and slowing down? Well, we’re sure it’s not going to be an ongoing concern or anything but yeah sorry we totally forgot to get things set in time for yesterday’s post!
Really the reason was that we were spending like 5-6 hours chatting with family, which is not such a bad reason at all we guess.
Anyway let’s see some stuff that’s up in the area!
Start Playing Online is happening again! Joyous tidings indeed. You can head to the Discord at https://discord.gg/fAM8yJw so you can hang out on mic and also just hang out and connect to more folks to play games with!
There have been a few local Smash Bros tournaments too! You can find some via: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WesternMassSmash/

Want to help out your favorite local comic store Comics N’ More?
THIS IS A BIG ASK RIGHT NOW:
If youve been a long time patron, a recently inspired supporter in light of current events or if the shop means something to you – we are looking for video testimonials about why for release as part of our online video content push.
HMU if interested
They’d like some video testimonials! Which you should do because they’re wonderful and we hope they’re doing okay!
You can also get comics again! They’ve launched a new site to purchase online! We know everyone could use a few hundred comics. We know we can make it through this if we just have enough comics to read! That’s how we made it through ages 10-18!
We are very pleased to present the launch of our new online store!!! https://comicsnmoreeast.square.site/
An ever growing number of curated listings for comic books, graphic novels, binge worthy fun runs, and all the n’more you’ve come to love and expect. Check it out and check back often!
You can also get pickup from Off the Wall Games now!
Here’s how it works:
We will be available on Friday from 6-8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 2-6pm for pickups. Email a detailed order to firstname.lastname@example.org. YOU MUST EMAIL IT – don’t message the store, don’t contact an employee. We will contact you to verify the order, it’s total, and you can pay either over the phone via credit card or via Paypal (we will send you an invoice). Once paid, we will arrange a time for pickup. Simple as that. Bear in mind, a few of our distributors are shut down, so we have what we have. If we can order from some distributors, we will do special orders as we have the ability to do so, but we will let you know what we can get. Thanks all for being a great community. Just stay 6 feet away when you’re doing it.
Oh! And the Yiddish Book Center is having a lecture this week via Zoom! The 2020 Melinda Rosenblatt Lecture | “Of Making Many Books There Is No End: Jews and American Publishing,” with Josh Lambert. You can see it April 23rd at 7PM.
In the first half of the 20th century, Jews went from being almost completely excluded from all jobs in American publishing to being preeminent throughout the book business, with many of the most prestigious and successful publishing houses (including Knopf, Simon & Schuster, and Random House) having been founded by Jewish families and led by Jewish editors. How did the prominence of Jews in publishing influence the history of American literature? And, how, in particular, did it shape a market for Jewish literature, including Yiddish literature in translation?

We’ve been playing and enjoying Ori and the Blind Forest. It’s a metroidvania, it’s good, it’s basically just that! No frills beyond the extremely pretty animation of everything.
